Automatic brand conversion

Technical writers have been using the XML content management system TIM-RS in Wernau and at an external service provider since 1999. Due to the connection to further European locations, Bosch Thermotechnik decided to establish new documentation locations to be closer to the development. The crucial demand on the XML content management system was „automatic brand conversion" of publications.

30 languages for Internet and SAP

Today, 40 internal and external technical writers create technical publications with FrameMaker and TIM-RS. They cooperate at various European Bosch Thermotechnik locations and with external documentation service providers via a terminal server solution. TIM-RS manages the workflow and organizes module, document, and graphic management. Documents are created in German and translated by external translation providers with across into 30 languages. TIM-RS delivers PDF documents for Intranet, Internet, and also SAP.

Conclusion

Jerome Leicht, Head of Technical Documentation at Bosch Thermotechnik summarizes his experience: „TIM-RS facilitates brand conversion and the necessary layout changes. The terminal server solution simplifies the connection of internal and external locations, whereas the XML content management system TIM-RS facilitates the implementation of uniform publication processes. In addition, integrating translating processes with across is made simple".
