Replacing Word®

When implementing the XML content management system TIM-RS, MSA replaced Word® by a modularized and structured editing method with FrameMaker® in order to deliver and up-date their publications in more than 20 languages efficiently and quickly.

More than 20 languages, including Chinese

Operating and maintenance manuals are today created in the source language English at the Berlin office. The XML modules are pre-translated in TIM-RS. The modules that remain to be translated, are translated by external translation service providers with SDL Trados® into more than 20 languages, including Chinese.

Systematic proofreading

TIM-RS organizes all editorial functions in the classical sense: The efficient management of all contents and the reuse of XML modules. Furthermore, the technical writers at the MSA subsidiaries are also using TIM-RS as platform for managing their publishing and release processes.

Further languages and integration into SAP

In the medium term, MSA is planning to manage further European and non-European language versions and to integrate TIM-RS into SAP.
